We catch a cough or the flu, we catch it from the air, they all ride on particles, or water droplets. Somebody sneezes on the tube and hey, you just got a million particles projected at speed into the atmosphere. You can't hold your breath for ever! It may seem odd seeing somebody walking down the street with a mask on; 10 years ago, any cyclist seen wearing a mask would have been considered an extremist.
