Running / Walking

The minority of us run/walk for exercise to keep our minds and bodies fit, the majority of us run to catch a bus or train because we are late and can't get things together.

The former takes us closer to traffic fumes (if city running), the latter takes us closer to nervous exhaustion. Both adversely affect our body condition. Regular running/speed walking will allow an aerobic level of exercise to be maintained that's good for the heart and lungs and maintain a body fitness level well above the average couch potato. If we consistently run/walk for either long periods of time or just consistently over a period of time we make our bodies work which in return releases energy, maintains muscle tone to make us look and feel good. However, we also ingest substantial amounts of chemicals by way of vehicle pollution that is present in the running zone. Wearing a mask will prevent the excessive intake of pollutants, so that the exercise that you do is positive in all aspects of the activity.
